Hymenoplasty

Defloration (defloration) usually means the loss of the integrity of the thin barrier made of mucous membrane that is located at the very entrance to the vagina during the first sexual contact. In the social aspect of a woman’s life, defloration leaves a mark, which can also imply certain unwanted consequences, which in the society we live in, can stigmatize a woman as an individual.

This way of accepting and understanding women is especially pronounced in highly patriarchal, but also rural environments. Hymenoplasty is a type of procedure that restores the integrity of the hymen, which significantly affects the quality of life.

Operative technique: It can be different depending on the fact that there are remnants of the hymen. It can be a simple hymen caruncle suturing procedure or a more complex reconstructive procedure. Duration of the procedure and anesthesia: The operation is performed on an outpatient basis under general anesthesia and lasts about half an hour to 45 minutes.

Recovery: After the healing process is over, it is impossible to notice the effects of the operation, ie. the reconstructed hymen looks identical to the real hymen. After surgery, sexual contact, tampons or other intense mechanical stimuli in the genital area should be avoided for 4 weeks.
