Ear Surgery

Ear Surgery

Goal: Correction of the position and shape of the auricles.

Operative technique: The procedure consists of reshaping the cartilage of the auricle to achieve a normal contour and angle between the auricle and the head.

Duration of the procedure and anesthesia: The operation is performed under local anesthesia and lasts about 60 to 90 minutes (both ways), and the incisions are placed behind the ear. If necessary, for smaller children who are not mentally prepared, it can also be performed under general anesthesia.

Intervention is possible in all age periods, but in principle it is recommended, when it comes to children, only when they turn 6-7 years old. It is recommended that this intervention be carried out before the child starts school, because in this way the psychological trauma of the child is avoided.

Postoperative course: The bandage is removed after seven days, and the thread after two weeks.

Rare complications: Transient swelling of the auricle and even rarer hemorrhages.
