Upper arm tightening

The skin of the upper arms tends to sag over time, which is especially pronounced during the aging process or after sudden weight loss. It often occurs after liposuction of the upper arms. Skin tightening /Brachioplasty/ removes excess skin and thus restores the youthful appearance of your upper arms.

Operative technique: There are different techniques for solving the problem of excess skin on the upper arm. Classically, excess skin is removed by making an incision along the inner back of the upper arms. In certain cases where the excess skin is minimal, tightening can be achieved with one smaller transverse incision in the armpit area. These cases are rarer and the technique is less effective. Limited liposuction can be an integral part of an upper arm lift. During the consultative examination, a decision will be made on the type of intervention that will give the best results in your case. Typically, the scar will be positioned from the elbow to the armpit, at the junction of the back and inside of the upper arm, so that it is almost imperceptible. The effect is visible immediately after the removal of excess loose and hanging skin, but you need to wait 3 months for a definitive result. A minimum of 12 months is required for the definitive maturation of the scar.

Duration of the procedure and anesthesia: Brachioplasty can last from 1 to 3 hours. The procedure can be performed under local anesthesia, IV analgosedation or general anesthesia. Advice: stop smoking a month before the intervention, as well as stop taking aspirin at least ten days before.

Recovery: Duration of hospitalization one night. Drains are removed after one day, bandages after eight days, and sutures removed after two weeks. The return to regular work activities is after two weeks, and the inclusion of sports activities after two months. Sunbathing is not recommended for the first few months.

Rare Complications: Possible rare complications are infections and bleeding
